Baked Beans
The best recipe for home made baked beans
Ingredients
- 500 g ripe tomatoes cut into quarters
- 20 g red or brown lentils
- 1 tsp paprika
- 30 g pure maple syrup
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- 500 g cannellini beans If you use canned beans, rinse and drain them. I always use beans that I soaked over night and cooked for 30 minutes before use.
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp cream cheese e.g. philadelphia
Instructions
- Place tomatoes, lentils, paprika, syrup, salt and pepper into a pan and cook for about 10 minutes or until the tomatoes are soft.
- Using a a mixer, mix the tomatoes well, so that you get a nice rich tomato sauce.
- Add beans and Worcestershire sauce and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Add the cream cheese and adjust the seasoning to your taste.
- Serve on toast or on a jacket potato.
