Baked Beans
The best recipe for home made baked beans

- 500 g ripe tomatoes cut into quarters
- 20 g red or brown lentils
- 1 tsp paprika
- 30 g pure maple syrup
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- 500 g cannellini beans If you use canned beans, rinse and drain them. I always use beans that I soaked over night and cooked for 30 minutes before use.
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp cream cheese e.g. philadelphia
Place tomatoes, lentils, paprika, syrup, salt and pepper into a pan and cook for about 10 minutes or until the tomatoes are soft.
Using a a mixer, mix the tomatoes well, so that you get a nice rich tomato sauce.
Add beans and Worcestershire sauce and cook for another 10 minutes.
Add the cream cheese and adjust the seasoning to your taste.
Serve on toast or on a jacket potato.
